2. Use of Lesson Materials in Public Performances

What Happens if a Student Performs a Taught Song in Public?
Allowed Use:

  • If the material is not published (i.e., it is part of private lesson content but not in a book or formalized work by C Roberts Music Lessons), students may use it for public performances (e.g., school recitals, gigs, competitions).

Restricted Use:

  • If the material is later published in a formal book or course, the usage rights may change.
  • C Roberts Music Lessons reserves the right to update these terms to protect future published works.

3. Recording & Social Media Policy

Can Students Record Their Lessons?
Students may record their lessons for personal study and review.

What Can Be Posted Online?
Students may post clips from their lessons online, but only under the following conditions:

  • The clip must be 5 minutes or less (approximately the length of a song, solo, or exercise).
  • The student must credit C Roberts Music Lessons in the post (e.g., “Lesson with @crobertsmusiclessons” or mention “Chris Roberts” in the description).
  • If a lesson involves writing an original song together, the student must give songwriting credit to C Roberts Music Lessons when posting or performing it publicly.

What Cannot Be Posted Online?

  • Full lesson recordings exceeding 5 minutes.
  • Any lesson recording without proper attribution.
  • Edited versions of lessons that misrepresent the content, instructor, or intent.

What Happens if a Student Violates These Rules?

  • If a student posts a full-length lesson or fails to provide credit, they will be asked to remove or modify the post.
  • Repeated violations may result in lesson termination and/or a restriction from recording future lessons.

For any questions about sharing lesson content online, please contact [Insert Contact Email].

4. Future Copyright Ownership & Licensing Adjustments

What If C Roberts Music Lessons Publishes a Book or Course?

  • If C Roberts Music Lessons publishes a formal book, course, or copyrighted work, the usage rights of certain lesson materials may change.
  • Any updates to these rights will be communicated with reasonable notice.
  • Students who used materials prior to their formal publication may retain prior use rights, but they may not distribute or commercialize those materials after publication.

5. AI-Generated Use & Unauthorized Digital Distribution

Restrictions on AI & Transcription Tools
Students may not:

  • Use AI transcription or sheet music generation tools to recreate, distribute, or republish lesson content.
  • Input lesson materials into AI training datasets or automated transcription software for distribution.
  • Share AI-generated versions of exercises, compositions, or transcriptions based on C Roberts Music Lessons content.

Why This Matters:

  • AI-generated music and transcription tools blur the lines of intellectual property protection.
  • This policy ensures that lesson materials remain under the control of C Roberts Music Lessons and are not misused or repurposed without permission.

6. Right to Modify Policy

Policy Updates:

  • C Roberts Music Lessons reserves the right to update this Intellectual Property Policy at any time.
  • Any modifications will be communicated with reasonable notice via email or website updates.
  • Continued use of services implies acceptance of the revised policy.
